A reimagined perspective from an iconic piece of history in the form of an art print to celebrate the Burt Munro Challenge in Southland, New Zealand.
Every year in Southland, New Zealand the Burt Munro Challenge is held to celebrate the life of Burt and his motorcycle achievements.
Inspired by the design work on Burt Munro’s original 1920 Indian Scout motorcycle shell. I repurposed the Indian and headdress illustration to be a front-on, symmetrical design in the form of an illustrated art print. Everything from the pinstriping and typography, through to the actual scratches and blistering from the original shell were reimagined and imposed onto this one-of-a-kind artwork.
“You live more in five minutes on a bike like this going flat out than some people live in a lifetime.”– Burt Munro
